ALISON GRADUATES!

I finally got certified to teach in Canada... and well, I decided I may as well get my MASTER IN EDUCATION at the same time!

For the past year I spent two semesters driving to Buffalo for two days every week. I would go to school early on Monday morning for 12 hours of classes on Monday and Tuesdays. Then come home Tuesday nights extremely exhausted! After two semesters of this while working full-time, I did my Masters thesis that took three months to complete. It was truly three months of living on caffiene and headaches from sitting at the computer for countless hours. I finished the year by doing two student teaching placements. My first one was grade 3--which I fell in completely in love with. My second was grade 6. Let's just say I will stick with grade 3! I can't explain what an accomplishment graduation was. This journey was the hardest thing I think I have ever had to overcome academically. I now have 2 Bachelor's degrees (Psychology and Human Services, as well as Education) and a Master's degree (Education)! The next step? Getting a job and making lots of money after I go on Maternity Leave and raise our son for the first year....Yes, in Canada you get a year paid Maternity Leave!

The red and white in my hood is the school colors: D'Youville College. The light blue is for Education. My hood and sleeves are also longer than normal gowns to represent a Master's degree.

Brent, Kathy, and Brennan came to the early morning ceremony...8am ahhh! The four of us made a weekend of the event. We staying in Niagara Falls the night before so we didn't have to leave our house so early to get to Buffalo.

4 Months Pregnant! Boy or Girl?

The belly begins to grow fast!
and...
IT'S A BOY!

The ultra sound at 16 weeks showed everything to be perfectly normal! I did not expect to find out the gender of the little fetus, but I guess you can say the anatomy of this little thing grew very quickly in the beginning.
It's a Boy!
Grandma Cass (Kathy) went with me to the ultra sound. I did not think Brennan needed to go since the gender is usually not visible at 16 weeks. When the tech. asked if I wanted to know what it was, I could not say NO! The news was given to Kathy and I and Brennan would have to find out on the phone. I called him right after the saunogram was over and gave him the news. Needless to say he was happy with the outcome.
